Hiking
Walking and hiking are the most natural and environmentally friendly ways to explore the Pohorje Regional Park, offering an authentic experience of its landscapes and nature.
As the park’s first conservation area is primarily dedicated to the preservation of pristine natural areas and the natural development of ecosystems, visitors are required to stay on marked hiking trails within this zone at all times.

In the park and its surrounding area, you will find numerous hiking, long-distance, interpretive, and themed trails.
Cycling
Cycling is an excellent way to discover the Pohorje Regional Park and its surroundings. Numerous cycling routes traverse the wider Pohorje area, and visitors can also reach the plateau by bicycle from the valleys below.
However, cycling in sensitive natural environments can disturb shy and endangered wildlife species, damage vegetation and soil, and contribute to erosion. To help protect the park’s natural values, cycling is not permitted on skid trails, hiking trails, or on certain forest roads that are closed to all traffic, including bicycles.

Cycling Across the Entire Pohorje Area
Winter Sports
Winter, especially when snow-covered, transforms Pohorje into a peaceful and enchanting landscape. Visitors can enjoy its winter beauty on foot, with snowshoes, or on skis.
During the winter months, wildlife is particularly vulnerable and requires peace and quiet. For this reason, visitors are asked to remain on roads and marked hiking trails while exploring the park.
Several ski resorts and sledding areas are located in the vicinity of the park, while cross-country skiing trails are prepared whenever snow conditions permit.
Mushroom, Herb and Berry Picking
Pohorje attracts many visitors interested in collecting mushrooms, herbs, and wild forest fruits. However, excessive harvesting can negatively affect species populations and ecosystem balance.
For this reason, the collection of mushrooms, herbs, and wild berries is strictly prohibited within the first conservation area of the Pohorje Regional Park.
Within the second conservation area, commercial harvesting is restricted, while recreational collection of mushrooms and forest fruits is limited to a maximum of two kilograms per person. The collection of protected plant and fungal species is prohibited throughout the park.
Hunting
The entire area of the Pohorje Regional Park lies within the Pohorje Special Purpose State Hunting Ground, which is managed by the Slovenia Forest Service.
As the first conservation area is intended to preserve pristine natural habitats and allow ecosystems to develop naturally, hunting is prohibited within this zone.
