Interpretation Centre Kope

At Kope, near the tourist centre, an engaging interpretation of the natural and cultural heritage of the westernmost part of the Pohorje Regional Park has been established.

On the outdoor learning area called Petelinovka, families and school groups can discover the fascinating world of the Western Capercaillie, Slovenia’s largest forest grouse species, and gain insight into the challenges it faces in Pohorje today.

A visit to the Petelinova pot (Capercaillie Trail) between Kope and Črni vrh offers visitors beautiful views, preserved nature, and a traditional cultural landscape. Along the way, many lesser-known features of this part of Pohorje are revealed, inspiring further exploration.

Petelinovka

Located near the Kope Centre, Petelinovka is an outdoor experiential learning area designed especially for children. Through play and interactive educational elements, visitors can learn about the Western Capercaillie and the conservation challenges it faces in Pohorje.

From Kope, the trail ascends across ski slopes and continues through the bird’s natural habitat in the upper reaches of Pohorje, all the way to Ribniška koča mountain hut.

Along the way, visitors encounter benches, interpretation points, and spectacular viewpoints, ensuring an engaging and educational hiking experience throughout.
